The application of mathematics to the biological and medical sciences is growing at an enormous rate and it is widely recognised that this will be where mathematics can make its next big contribution. This conference will bring together some of the leading figures who have pioneered the applications of mathematics in the life sciences over the past several decades. Stretching over two days, it will combine a series of invited talks with a contributed poster session.
A reception will be held on Sunday the 3rd of July, with a conference dinner on the 4th, where the guest of honour will be Jim Murray, Emeritus Professor at the universities of Oxford and Washington, and a leading light in the development of the subject. The meeting takes place in the University of Limerick, set in the elegant grounds of a former estate by the banks of the river Shannon, and within easy reach of Shannon Airport, as well as the beautiful scenery of County Clare. For those who are interested, a day trip on the Sunday will be organised to explore some of the features of the surrounding countryside. Should you arrive on or before Friday, please note that there is a performance on the Friday evening in the University Concert Hall of Mahler's first symphony and Beethoven's second piano concerto, performed by the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland. Further details are available here. Registration is now open.
Important Dates
Participants may also be interested in attending the 82nd European Study Group with Industry at the University of Limerick the week before this conference. Further information can be found here.
